How the Federal Shutdown Affected Grant Processing
The federal government shutdown caused immediate delays and operational slow-downs across all federal grant programs. When agencies shut down or operate under continued resolutions, most grant-making staff are furloughed, systems operate in limited capacity, and only legally “essential” functions continue. As a result:
- Grant reviews and scoring were paused, pushing application timelines back by weeks or months.
